Tulipmania is back again at Gardens by the Bay! Expect 50,000 tulips from Holland being transported into the Flower Dome with the cityscape of Netherlands. This time, not only are there the tulips, but a transformation of a “Little Netherlands” within the Flower Dome. That just reminds me of Huis Ten Bosch where it is a mini-Holland Village in Japan.
Catch the last glimpse of Tulipmania at the Flower Dome by this Sunday, 4 May 2014 before the flower field transform into another interesting country theme. The last I heard is France. Remember that you heard it here first.
I was at the Tulipmania this morning and it had drones of guest visiting the Flower Dome. But this year, the display was more spectacular, more magnificent and very well organised. Despite the large crowd, I enjoyed walking around, taking pictures and admire the flowers in bloom. Of recent display, this ought to be one of the better one in my humble opinion.
I quickly upload the pictures I have taken today at the Tulipmania display. For those who have time this weekend, don’t miss the sequel for Tulipmania. Otherwise, enjoy some of the photos depicting the tulips in its various state. Enjoy!
How do you remember a tulip look like? Probably like the one you see in the first picture. However, when in full bloom the petals open up, and they and they become a very big flower. They were in various colours and I love particularly the orange and red ones which are fiery looking.
The red tulips are even more fiery looking than the orange ones.
There are so many tulips all with different colours. Here is a profile shot of them.
Some of the tulips are not in full colour. Don’t you agree that they look so lovely.
And some have special petals when they are in bloom. They look like the carnivorous plants with their “teeth-like” petals on the side.
Who forgot their clogs and left them hanging? Actually they are part of the display too since clogs play a big tradition in the Holland culture.
Part of the display are not accessible close up for better crowd management and to prevent the display from being destroyed by the visiting guest. Apparently last year, many guest fell into the flower field when they were too excited trying to get close to the tulips. So some areas are cordoned off. Although we can’t get really close but I think it is a good idea.
The clogs have other uses too. They are used for props and use as “pots” for growing crops! Interesting!
This is the Centrepiece of the display with a giant windmill on the side. Don’t you love these structures standing proudly with a bed of colourful and beautiful tulips in front of them? I was as if transported to Holland.
As you tread along, you noticed some smaller windmills. This is inspired by Netherland small canal scenes amidst the spectacular bloom of the tulips.
There are other display to add some vibrancy and common scenes in Netherland. The one shown here is nearer the exit of the Flower Dome. Be sure to check it out.
Another close up of how the inside of the tulip looks like.
No matter from what view, these tulips just look so fabulous.
More of my favourite fiery red tulips. You almost will mistake it as roses from the last “War of Roses” display.
These orange tulips against a backdrop of beds and beds of tulips in other colours.
So far, which is the favourite color of tulips?
Another of the close up shot. You can see that tulips have various number of petals. Some more than the other.
Are these tulips pink or purple? They probably are the most common breed.
Be spellbound by the magnificent display that is brought to you once again by the horticulture team from the Gardens. Perpetual spring comes to reality in the Flower Dome conservatories. Enjoy these “Tulip Cheers” right here in Singapore.
