???????????????????????????????

Following the huge success of Sophie Bakery in Telok Ayer, Sophie Bakery has expanded and have since launced a new outlet at Velocity @ Novena Square.  They are currently having soft opening at Wisma Atria.  Accordingly, they will be opening at One Shenton Way and City Square Mall.  Yesterday, I was heading to the gym at Orchard and noticed the French bakery and decided to take some pictures and show you what they have for now.

???????????????????????????????

Sophie Bakery at basement of Wisma Atria, in its nerve smoothing and calming olive-green door panels as frontage, just like what they have in France, oops, I mean Telok Ayer.

Sophie Bakery Wisma

The store is not big, just two rows of shelves for bread and cakes.  There isn’t a great variety at this moment because it is only a soft opening.  Can wait to have the real stuff like  croissant or even the macaroons here at wisma.  There is a cold case of brownies, carrot cakes and cheesecakes!

???????????????????????????????Display of the items available.  Not much choices for now.

???????????????????????????????Chocolate Bun ($1.50)

These are the chocolate buns from Sophie.  Now going at just $1 a piece during the promotional period at Wisma Atria.  I have tried these buns and they are very good.  Just soft enough not to be overly fluffy so it is quite substantial.  Most importantly they are covered evenly with chocolate chips.  This is a steal, so grab more chocolate buns while the promotion lasts.

???????????????????????????????Honey Whole Meal ($5.90)

???????????????????????????????Mini Ciabatta ($1.50)

???????????????????????????????Petit Pain Nature ($1.50)

I enjoyed eating bread a lot.  I always think that making bread seems like a difficult affair.  But apparently according to a friend who attended a bakery school, it is not that tough after all.  However to make a good bread is not an easy feat… it is evident from the fact that I have not tasted a REAL TASTY BREAD from my friend’s baking.  (I look forward though).

???????????????????????????????Cranberry Muffins ($2)

???????????????????????????????Chocolate / Blueberry Muffin ($2)

There isn’t a lot of variety going on at the new bakery, but when I saw the little muffins, I just have to had them.  I tried the cranberry muffins and found them to be quite good.  It is soft and not overly sweet.  I love the cranberry and they are plentiful in the small little muffin that I have.  Since the chocolate buns are good, I might just try the chocolate muffin in my next visit.

???????????????????????????????

Now, even when you are in town, you can still taste the fresh goodness of Sophie Bakery.  I am a little weary of its overly aggressive expansion to so many outlets within such short period of time.  Wondering if they are franchise model or owned by the same owner.  Oh well, we shall leave this question to the proprietor and enjoy the goodness as long as it lasts.
