Turi Beach Resort, Batam July 5, 2012

Just got back from a weekend beach holiday at nearby island of Batam.  I have been to Batam on a day trip once, and this is the first time I’ve been to Batam beach resort.  To my amazement, it really exceeded my expectations.

Although it doesn’t have a long stretch of beach the way the resorts in Bintan I’ve been to have to offer but in terms of the facilities, sea sports activity and Batam offers the same; or maybe even cleaner beaches!

Turi Beach Resort is fairly small, but they are currently building a new wing.  I like that (or it seems) that all their view is all facing the pool or beach.  No garden view.  The rooms we had all came with a balcony, so it is just perfect to while the day away reading on the balcony or just simply sun tanning.   I can imagine reading a book, playing some music and having the sun sooth my skin.  Ultimate relaxation!  But do bring a mosquito repellant or coil along for good measure.

The only set back is that because of the small size of the resort, it doesn’t seem to have diversity of choices in terms of the restaurants to eat.  We had Japanese for lunch which was a real disappointment (would rather have our instant cup noodles instead) and the breakfast buffet that came with the room stay has nothing much to offer.  So just expect eggs and coffee although they do have other items… but do not expect a real good spread.

The pool is important because even if I don’t swim in it, at least it should look complementary to the environment.  Turi Beach Resort has got a an infinity pool and another one that leads to below.

Most of the rooms are facing the pool or the sea.  However the rooms on the first floor have direct access to the pool.  However, I don’t mind a higher level because that would mean I can get to see more of the sea.  Equally fabulous.

The resort is enveloped by lush greeneries.  This really relaxes your mind, and a good escape from the urban jungle of high rise building we are so used to seeing everyday.  A different feast for the eyes.

Viewing huts are everywhere facing the sea.  I don’t recall any beach decks.  However seems that Batam is infested with more mosquitoes.  Simple solution of mosquito coil or repellant should do the trick.

More pictures of the pool.  This is the infinity pool that you can imagine swimming towards the sea.

Find a partner or two, you can watch the sunrise from the viewing hut too!

Isn’t this a perfect place to lie down and calm your nerves while hearing the waves hits the beach?  I can totally imagine in this situation.

Feel the tranquility as the sun slowly rises and the sea turns into a bed of golden hues.

After this trip, I would hope to come back to Turi Beach Resort soon.  Or perhaps I should check out the several other beach resorts in Batam before settling on one which I can call my favourite.  Looking forward to my next beach holiday soon!
