W39 Bistro Communal Tale

For a Eastie to go all the way to the West to have brunch is really quite something.  But when being invited and an opportunity to dine with my good friends make it a compelling reason to do so.  I am also happy to check out one of the west hip bistro.  W39 Bistro.  I love what I see.  A large communal table as I enter the bistro and nice mix mash of colourful chairs.  It is a little contemporary, a little modern. The atheistic is appealing for a repeat visit.

W39 Bistro Hearty BreakfastHearty Breakfast ($16)

There is no gimmick.  Just a really hearty breakfast of two sunny side up.  Not the best presented with one of the yolk broken and running.  There’s also pork sausage, sautéed mushroom, bacon, tomatoes and mesculn green and a slice of toasted butter top loaf.  Everything is good on the plate.  But better menu items are coming up next.

W39 Bistro Mee SiamChef’s Special Nonya Mee Siam ($9.5)

This Nonya Mee Siam is really quite something.  I normally don’t order mee siam because my mother make a mean mee siam.  I make this an exception because it is a Chef Special and the menu came with a Chef Hat.  The springy mee hoon comes with tiger prawns, bean sprouts, and a poached egg!  I am fascinated by the addictive, thick spicy gravy.  I finished the entire bowl of the mee siam gravy.  It is so yummy!!

W39 Bistro Lamb RackBaked Lamb Ribs ($24)

The review for this baked lamb ribs is mixed.  I personally love it a lot because it is very tender but a little on the fatty side.  I would have mistaken it as “Dong Po Rou” if not that I am aware it is lamb.  The exterior is a sweet marinate that blends well with the slightly thick skin.  The shredded cucumber greek yogurt is very good and really complements the lamb ribs.  The fries are air-fried too so it is less oily.

W39 Bistro Ribena Lemon TwistRibena Lemon Twist ($5.90)

The Ribena Lemon Twist is quite a special drink.  But charging $5.90 is a little exorbitant for a simple to make drink especially one that can be replicated easily at home.  Ribena + Tangy Clear Soda + Mint Leaves = Refreshing Beverage.

W39 Bistro Deco LatteCafé Latte ($4.50)

Serving coffee is almost a must when you are opening for brunch.  Nowadays the trend of brunch comes with a good cuppa.  From the latte art, you can somehow deduce the taste of the Café Latte.

W39 Bistro Deco Display

As mentioned, I love the interior deco of the bistro.  A nice little vase of flowers is also mandatory in the café these days because they not only is a deco for the table, it also served as a prop when taking pictures of the food and beverage.

W39 Bistro Exterior

Weekends can be busy at W39 Bistro.  The exterior of the café is also crowded by the time I reach there before 12 noon.  Ceiling fan above circulate the area and make the place cooling so that you can enjoy your breakfast or brunch.

W39 Bistro Deco Wall Display

But the interior is more charming.  These plates are placed on the walls.  Not sure if they will be used when the business is brisk.

Great review, thanks for sharing. Makes me want to visit the place too. There is this map called CafeSG that lets you find all the local cafes in Singapore! Super useful for cafe hopping and to discover new cafes near home and workplace.

Hope to see more reviews from you
