Yum Cha UE Biz Hub East Mother's Day Special 2014 Large Prawn Siew Mai with Double Roe

This coming Mother’s Day, enjoy some new luscious dim sum at Yum Cha Restaurants with their Mother’s Day Exclusive Dim Sum.  Pictured above is the Large Prawn Siew Mai with Double Roe ($3.50/pc) I love how the large the prawn is with is extra bouncy and springy with each bite.  The double roe also explodes in your mouth creating a sensational delight to the taste bud.

Yum Cha UE Biz Hub East Mother's Day Special 2014 Lavender Bun with Coconut FillingLavender Bun with Coconut Filling ($2.80/ 2 pcs)

If you found the colour of the bun to be a little off, you spotted it correctly.  These are actually Lavender Bun that uses lavender buds to add fragrance and special purple hues to the buns.  I also like the coconut filling in the bun which is juicy and bursting with fragrance and sweetness of grated coconuts.  This will make a special treat for mums this Mother’s Day weekend!

Yum Cha UE Biz Hub East Mother's Day Special 2014 Glazed Fruit TartGlazed Fruit Tarts ($2 per piece)

Another special creation this Mother’s Day is the Glazed Fruit Tart.  This Glazed Fruit Tarts make good choices as desserts after a meal of dim sum.  The custard in the tarts are quite like those which you get in a Chinese bakery, not those western ones.

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Roast MeatAssorted Roast Meat

Special to the outlet at UE Bizhub East, the Yum Cha Restaurant whipped up Roast Meat too with a kitchen serving traditional HK dishes of congee and roast meats.  I particularly like the Char Siew which a thick-cut and very tender.  The roast duck has a gamey taste but is well complemented with the sour plum sauce.  The only quip I have is the roast pork, although the skin is crispy but is rather dry.  Probably because I prefer a more “fatty” roast pork.

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Fish Roe Siew MaiFish Roe Siew Mai ($3.80)

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Yum Cha Prawn DumplingYum Cha Prawn Dumpling ($4.60)

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Crystal Chives DumplingCrystal Chives Dumpling ($3.80)

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Crystal Mushroom DumplingCrystal Mushroom Dumpling ($3.80)

Some of the popular steamed dishes are the Siew Mai and Shrimp Dumplings.  The Fish Roe Siew Mai is quite similar to the Mother’s Day special except that it was not double roe.  Again, their big white prawns gives a bouncy bite to the Siew Mai. I also like the Crystal Chive Dumplings which has a smooth and silky skin and rich flavour of chives.

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Fresh Prawn Rice Flour RollFresh Prawn Rice Flour Roll ($4.50)

The Rice Flour Roll or more commonly known as cheong fun have a silky texture.  I liked that there is vegetables together with the cheong fun.  They also have the BBQ Cha Siew Rice Flour Roll ($4.00).

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Custard BunCustard Bun ($4.50)

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Custard Bun

I have been searching for a good custard buns or Liu Sha Bao.  I think I may found it at Yum Cha.  Look at how flowy the salted egg custard is.  This is gorgeous and quite exceptional.  When I return again I will definitely be ordering this.

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Steamed Pork Ribs with Sour PlumSteamed Pork Ribs with Sour Plum ($3.80)

The steamed pork ribs are also quite special because sour plum sauce was used to make this pork rib dish.

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Prawn & Mango FrittersPrawn & Mango Fritters ($4.00)

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Crispy Spring RollCrispy Spring Roll ($3.20)

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Shrimp Beancurd RollShrimp Beancurd Roll ($4/3pcs)

For the deep fried dim sum, my favourite would be the Prawn & Mango Fritters.  The mango was riped, soft and sweet which goes well with the prawns inside.  The dash of sesame on its exterior lends an added fragrance to this dim sum.  The crispy spring roll is also quite special as they use bean sprouts inside, so it is has a nice stringy touch to it.  The shrimp beancurd is fried to a perfect crisp outside, is salty to taste and when dip with the accompanied vinegar is another delightful dim sum order.

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Grass Carp Fish Belly CongeeSliced Grass Carp Fish Congee ($6.80)

The Grass Carp Fish taste fresh and tasty and the congee was smooth and silky.  This definitely makes a good choice for those who wants to have something lighter and not so meaty.

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Pork TrottersPork Trotters

We were also specially treated to the pork trotters.  Apparently this dish is only available during the weekends.    I love how the sweet-sour vinegar taste works into the pork trotters to create a devilish tasting dish that is potentially cholesterol shooting!  I’m salivating again just reminiscing about this dish.

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Baked Mini Egg TartBaked Mini Egg Tarts ($2.80)

These mini egg tarts are also highly popular items of the menu.  I thought it will be better if there are more egg custards.

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Crispy Red Bean with BananaCrispy Red Beans with Banana ($3.80)

Another exceptional item is the Crispy Red Beans with Banana.  Sweet and riped banana is used in this dish and deep fried together with red bean paste.  As a fan of banana, I absolutely loved this dish.  The exterior is breaded and gives a rough texture that juxtapose with the soft banana and smooth red beans.  Definitely something I will order again.

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Pomelo Sago in Mango JuicePomelo Sago in Mango Juice ($4.00)

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Lemograss Jelly with FruitsLemongrass Jelly with Fruits ($4.00)

End the dim sum with sweet endings.  We had both the Pomelo Sago in Mango Juice and Lemongrass Jelly with Fruits.  The Pomelo Sago in Mango Juice is good, but I found the mango juice a little sweet.  It would be good if it taste  little creamier.  The Lemongrass Jelly with Fruits is also very refreshing.  Something that you can order even if you feel full.  There is a saying that there is always room for dessert!

Yum Cha Changi UE Biz Hub Interior

The location of the outlet is exceptional with huge windows that can overlook the outside that makes for a bright environment for the client.  The interior is also aptly decorated with a Chinese theme that is soft and subtle that makes for a good dining environment.
