Zodiac Horse 2014

At the Singapore River Hongbao this year, the Singapore Philatelic Bureau was there and a special collection of Zodiac Horse stamps from Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore is launched.  This is on sale at $18.90 per set.

Zodiac Horse Singapore

The Singapore Zodiac Horse stamp was already described in my earlier post here.  You probably noticed by now that the cover of the special collection is die-cut horse.  Initially when I first flip it open, I had thought it was the Singapore Merlion.  Only on closer inspection that I realised otherwise.

Singapore
Issue Name:  Zodiac Series – Horse
Issue Date: 03-01-2014.
Designer: Leo Teck Chong

Zodiac Horse Hong Kong Stamp Issue 2014

The Hong Kong stamp issued 4 stamps and I like how bright and festive looing the stamps are.  Unlike Singapore stamps have almost similar design for the {obese} horse; which is consistent with the other zodiac animal series stamps so far; the Hong Kong one shows different horses.  I picked the$2.90 stamp as my favourite.

Silk Stamp Sheetlet Hong Kong

Hong Kong also released a silk stamp sheetlet (HK$50) 80mm x 80mm above.  I really wish I can add a special material stamp to my collection.

Hong Kong
Issue Name: “Year of the Horse” Special Stamps
Date of Issue: 11-Jan-2014.
Designer: Kan Tai-Keung.

Zodiac Horse Macau Stamp Issue 2014

The Macau Stamp issue is the most interesting as it depicts the distinguishing elements: “Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth”.  This year being a “Wood Horse” year, therefore the wood horse is the central character of the stamp series.  It is applied with emboss printing technique to emphasize the elegant posture of the neighing horse, and hot foil stamping with symphony holograph on the stamp border.  Maybe because of the special printing that I like this stamp the most.  A nugget of information:  the stamps from Macau are printed in Netherlands.  I thought this is quite unusual for the postage stamps to be printed out of the country.

Macau
