BreadTalk we know, but how about BreadTalk Café?  The inaugural café was opened at Suntec City, along the outer perimeter of the spanking new dining enclave of the Fountain of Wealth.  The bakery café serves an all-day dining menu and particularly worth highlighting is the local twists to some of the classic western menu.  The bakery section also has your BreadTalk favourites and novel creations.

If you are tired of normal sandwiches, there is this popular choice of Portobello Party that double up as an appetiser or a side dish on its own.  Stuffed with bacon, spinach and melted cheese, the Portobello mushroom is baked perfectly retaining its moist and juicy texture.  This party is served with tomatoes and rocket leaves, the latter being my favourite!

As the name suggests, the Sardinah Pizza contains sardines.  This is really quite unusual because other than curry puffs, I can’t think of any other dish that uses sardines as core ingredient.  I was initially quite sceptical of how the pizza will turn out, but as soon as I took a first bite, I dispel whatever scepticism I have of it.  This sweet and spicy pizza really tingles my tastebud and I can’t help but almost finish the whole pizza on my own.  Fact is it isn’t really a big pizza just about the size of a personal pizza.  This unusual pizza also have another unusual condiment – hard boiled egg that comes with it, together with sundried tomatoes, cheese and spicy mayonnaise.

The Shrooms Green Curry marries the Italian pasta and Thai cuisine together.  Fear not, the curry is actually not that spicy and has a very herbal and spiced-up flavour which is rather strong.  There are generous portion of straw and button mushrooms together with fresh prawn to complete this Italian-Thai fusion dish.

We ended our meal on a sweet brownie overload.  While the brownie is the highlight for this dessert, however I much prefer the generous scope of Movenpick vanilla ice-cream.  Not big a chocolate fan actually, I may consider to order their Homemade Apple Crumble ($6.80) in my next visit.

Quite worthy of mentioned are their tall chilled glass of beverage – the peach spice tea; with a peachy and cinnamon flavour that is very refreshing and characteristic of Asian flavour.  The Summer Mojito is light and thirst quenching and score a high note for the café for serving good food and even better chilled beverages.

I think the BreadTalk café is suitable for those who would like to dine in a more casual setting and who has a lesser appetite, as you can see the portion is quite petite.  🙂  They do have a wholesome and varied menu to cater for differ taste and budget.  I noticed that most of the items goes under $10 so it is definitely value-for-money because sometimes one just wants something light so that the head doesn’t get too heavy after lunch.
