???????????????????????????????Few people have heard of Boxing Crab Restaurant which sits behind the Underwater World at Sentosa.  It is a unique place to have a seafood fare while overlooking the mesmerising seafront.  During the day, the place is like a sanctuary and by the night the place will transform itself.  If you are lucky*, you may catch the gigantic glittering cruise sail past in front of you.  More surprise awaits if the nearby peacock comes near and decides to display its feather.

The Boxing Crab brings you one of the best kept secret in Sentosa.  Best kept because of its secluded and idyllic location, and also because it is the original creator of their Braised Claypot Crab with Superior Both and Pumpkin.  For this coming Mother’s Day, lavish your mother with a treat both to the senses and the taste bud.  The Boxing Crab is offering; for a limited time period; a 1-for-1 crab promotion for the month of May to celebrate the greatness of our mothers.

 ???????????????????????????????Deep Fried Spiny Lobster Salad

One thing I love about a lobster dish is the display of the lobster head. This magnificent crustacean when cooked has a fiery colour and display a nice vivid pattern on its shell. As the first dish, it won the heart of the diners. The lobster meat is deep-fried quickly to give its outer layer a crispy feel while the meat retains its succulence. All these blends well with the sweetness of the specially concocted dressing with hints of lemongrass. Certainly started the dinner with good primacy effect.

???????????????????????????????Braised Treasure Chicken in Lotus Leaf

Treat yourself to this dish of home cooked greatness. Your taste buds will be rewarded simultaneously with the different taste and bite to the varied ingredients used to prepare the dish. Water chestnut is crunchy, chinese chestnut is soft and sweet with grainy texture after bite, and the dish permeates the sweetness of the carrots, red dates and wolfberries. The mushrooms are smooth and slips around your tongue. If you like the hokkien bak chang (rice dumplings) you would love this dish as much as myself because it is reminiscent of its taste.

???????????????????????????????Homemade Water Chestnut Bean Curd with Spices Meat

This homemade tofu has an added crunch from the finely diced water chestnut that is fried to perfection and yet retaining its smooth and silky texture. Drizzled over with spices meat, this is a good dish after the all the rich goodness from the previous braised chicken in lotus leaf dish.

???????????????????????????????Stir Fried Sea Scallop and Prawn with Asparagus

Next, indulge yourself in some seafood freshness of prawns and scallop. The prawns served are huge and crunchy while the scallops have a chewy texture. Certainly the seafood stole the thunder from the asparagus which is tender and nice.

???????????????????????????????Braised Chilli Crab Wrapped in Lotus Leaf and Deep Fried Bun

Everyone is looking forward to the main attraction of tonight’s dinner – the braised chilli crab. What’s so special is the chilli crab is braised in lotus leaf to give it a special accompanying fragrance. I’ve had a lot of crabs but I always loved the chilli crab here (and it’s not even a signature dish!) If you fancy the not-too-spicy crabs that is cooked with tomato sauce, then do not miss their chilli crab. It also has hints of thai tom yum flavour which adds a oomph to the dish. I mopped up the sauce with the accompanying deep-fried man tou (buns).

???????????????????????????????Stir Fried Vermicelli with Seafood

This stir fried vermicelli has a generous portion of seafood: prawns, scallops and squid altogether in this glass noodle dish. Nice alternative from the usual fried rice or noodles. This is like revisiting the prawns and scallop dish, in case you didn’t have enough of it.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERARed Bean Soup with Coconut and Lotus Seed

End the meal with sweetness from this special red bean soup. Special because there’s coconut milk in it so it taste like a cross of the black glutinous rice pulut hitam. The lotus seeds are soft and melts in the mouth. Would have been more complete with glutinous rice balls.

Above set menu is $328++ for 4 perons and is available only from 1 to 12 May 2013. If you have more in your party, there is also another menu for 6. Or order some great ala-carte dishes.

Although the location is a little unconventional but definitely worth a visit ans definitely a good way to beat the crowd.

*Cruise ships will transverse the sea on Wednesday and Friday evenings.  So you don’t have to be lucky after all as the cruise departs on schedule.
