新年旺来!恭喜发财!

Today, we officially usher in the Snake year.  Wishing everyone a very prosperous new year.  Here is a pineapple, which is a symbol of prosperity to the Chinese because its dialect name “ong lai” is phonetically similarly to 旺来, being abundance of wealth coming.  Also the reason why pineapple tarts are a must-have during the Chinese New Year seasons.

The above photo is taken 18 weeks ago in the Chinese Garden of Gardens by the Bay, Bay South.  This is an ornamental pineapple which cannot be eaten.

Let’s have a Ong Lai year!  Huat huat! (发财呀!)
