Churrascaria at Carnivores June 27, 2012

Posted by gurkhason in food.

Never want to miss a good deal, so when my friend told me that there is a 1-for-1 buffet lunch at Carnivores, I agreed to join him without any hesitation.  Wouldn’t say I’m really a carnivore, but I pretty much love eating meat a lot.  Plus I’ve been wanting to go to the Carnivores at Vivocity since it is opened but never got a chance, so this is a deal is not to be missed!

Managed to make a booking for the Marina Bay Sands branch.  I love MBS as it is quieter compared to the other malls and it is more spacious and less push carts (kiosks).  I didn’t have an impression where Carnivores is until I arrived at the venue and I must say I must have walked past it two to three times but it never left an impression.  Noq it certainly does.

I really loved the alfresco style sitting area within the air-con enclosures.  Really beats eating in the restaurant itself because I feel less claustrophobic.  Good thing the air-con is strong and we have a good weather to complement.  So overall dining experience was excellent.

We arrived a little earlier before 12, and was showed to our seats very quickly.  We started at the buffet/salad line where there are plenty of choices of veggies, beans and starch to begin with.  The selection at the line was varied and much better than I expected.  Personally love the asparagus with mushrooms and marinated octupus.  The chicken wing is very flavourful and I had to resist a second helping since so much meat will be involved later!

The meat is served at the table and there are plenty of choices: bacon chicken, grilled ham, roast pork, beef ham, roast beef, roast lamb and grilled cod fish!  Was a little upset because of the lack of grilled veggies.  The pineapple that they served was already cut into slices which is a little disappointing.  Would be lovely if they have cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and onions to complement the meat.   As the meat does not come with any sauce, so it can be quite dry.  However a few stand out from the rest because they were very well marinated.  Particularly noteworthy is the roast beef which really has a oomph! factor as well as the grilled cod fish which balanced out the meaty taste.  Overall I was very impressed with the quality and selection of the meat!  A very carnivorous affair indeed!

Wide selection of greens, veggies and starch to compliment the meat entree.

potato salad, prawn cocktail and beans!

Any idea if there is a difference between the orange and white colour mussels?

Hearty meal of cod fish, beef steak and  beef ham, compliments with asparagus and greens.

On each patron’s table, there is a round card that says “Yes please” in green on one side and “No thank you” in red on the other.  This is an indication to the server whether you would like to be served more meat.  So green for “Give me more” and red for “Leave me alone”.  I would say quite an innovative way.  My lunch partner keeps flipping his card throughout the meal as he was not very decided whether he has enough.

Promotion for the 1-for-1 buffet is good till 21 July.  Be sure to make a reservation because I booked more than 2 weeks in advance.  They have branches in Vivocity, CHIJMES, Dempsey and Marina Bay Sands.  But the promotion is valid for the outlets at Vivocity and MBS only.
